MOMENTUM BUILDS AS NAACP AND COMMUNITY LEADERS PREPARE TO CELEBRATE THE 18TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MILLION MAN MARCH, HOLY DAY OF ATONEMENT

TUSKEGEE – With reports from cities, counties and states as far away as Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, Georgia, Birmingham, Macon, and Montgomery; civic organizers, students and NAACP leaders are heading for Tuskegee to celebrate The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s call for the 18th Anniversary of the Million Man March, Holy Day of Atonement.

“The city of Tuskegee is buzzing with real excitement on seeing The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan at Tuskegee Square,” said Ms. Barbara Howard, President, Tuskegee-Macon NAACP Branch and long time Tuskegee resident. “There are posters everywhere and I am so honored that out of all of the big cities in the nation, Minister Farrakhan chose our city. I would have never thought that Minister Farrakhan would be here to celebrate this magnificent event. And, many locals are looking forward to receiving visitors from American cities and states that are planning to drive, fly or board the bus to show their support,” she added.

The highlight of this year’s three-day celebration will be the keynote address from The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, titled, “Muhammad’s Economic Blueprint: Ending Poverty and Want.” This free event will take place on Sunday, October 20, 2013, 2p.m., Tuskegee Square, Corner of Main and Rosa Parks Avenue.

Tuskegee a city of 9,855 (source: 2010 Census Viewer – Census Population of Tuskegee, AL.), is the birthplace of Mother Rosa Parks, Singer/Producer Lionel Ritchie and famous syndicated Radio Personality Tom Joyner and home of Dr. Carter G.
